Canine Partners charity, specialising in providing highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities, held a fantastic day's clay shooting on Saturday 13th September.

Twentyfour teams of 4 guns enjoyed the event at the home of the Earl and Countess of Clarendon in Holywell, near Swanmore, in Hampshire.

The teams competed for the Canine Partners' Charity Shield, with a course made up of 5 demanding drives including high pheasant and driven partridge, set up by the Better Shooting Company.

The shooting was followed by a champagne reception courtesy of Mentzendorff Bollinger and a marvellous lunch prepared by Greens' of St James, London.

Other supporters included Broughton Aston Martin, Knight Frank, Hildon Limited and Deane Wardrobes & Bedrooms.

The day was won by the team from Holywell, captained by Lord Hyde and very close runners-up were The Mail on Sunday team led by Simon Davies.

All the generous guests had a fantastic day and helped to raise £35,000 towards the work of Canine Partners.

Terry Knott, chief executive, said: "The day was wildly successful and there was a myriad of well-known faces from both the business and social communities, all in the beautiful setting of Holywell House. Such events continue to support our ongoing goals of training more assistance dogs to transform the lives of people with disabilities."

Next year's shoot will be held on Saturday 12th September 2009.
