By Barnaby Dracup

Wednesday, 26 November 2008

A coroner has recorded a verdict of accidental death of motorcyclist Ian Bottomley, from Preston, Lancashire.

Mr Bottomley was travelling along the A683 near Lancaster at a speed of between 67mph and 77mph when a pheasant flew into his path, hitting him and causing him to swerve and crash.

Coroner Derek Baker said: “This could not have been anticipated, nothing could have been done to prevent it.”
