Canine Partners, a national charity specialising in providing highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities, held a fantastic day’s driven clay shoot on Saturday 11th September.

Thirty-one teams of 4 guns enjoyed the event at the home of the Earl and Countess of Clarendon, Holywell Estate, near Swanmore in Hampshire, raising over £31,000 for Canine Partners.

The teams competed for the Canine Partners’ Charity Shield, with a course made up of 6 demanding drives including high pheasant and driven partridge.

The day was won by Penn’s Pupils from Northants, consisting of Captain Andy Barnwell, Linda Barnwell, Steve Hamblin and Mark Stevens.

The local Holywell team were runners-up, with competitors the Earl of Clarendon, Jono Irby, James Ormerod and Will Dobson.

The winners were each given a bottle of Henri Chauvet Champagne

Isabel Campbell, director of fundraising and marketing at the charity, said: “With a record number of teams entering, this looks set to be our most successful clay shoot to date. We are very fortunate that the Earl and Countess of Clarendon allow us to use their wonderful estate and thanks go to all the corporate sponsors and staff who played a part in this event. This type of fundraising is crucial to Canine Partners and allows us to continue training dogs to make a difference to those with disabilities.”
