Historic Bisley is to stage its first-ever shooting show.
The show – Bisley Live – will be held from September 30th to October 2nd and will bring together more than 200 exhibitors showcasing the latest guns, rifles, ammunition, clothing and accessories.
Its unique feature is that visitors will have the chance to test fire guns they might be thinking of buying.
The new show is in response to the rejection of Bisley’s bid to host the 2012 Olympic shooting events.
“We have been forced to diversify to ensure the enterprise stays profitable,” said Jeremy Staples, managing director of the National Shooting Centre (NSC).
“Civilian shooting is no longer lucrative enough to keep Bisley afloat. If we don’t embrace new ways of generating revenue, Bisley might not be here in five years time. Given the fact that Bisley has been around since the 1890s, that would be a tragedy for the entire country.”
