There could be an end to the need for British shooting visitors to Ireland to obtain a certificate of approval before they travel to the country.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed that there are “ongoing discussions” with the Department of Justice to remove the requirement for British shooters to obtain a certificate of approval from the PSNI before they travel to the country.
BASC NI director, Tommy Mayne, said: “The certificate of approval is an unnecessary requirement for British visitors. A valid shotgun or firearm certificate should be sufficient evidence to allow entry to, and possession of, sporting firearms in Northern Ireland."
