Will the price paid by dealers for shot pigeons ever rise?

The price you will receive for pigeons changes throughout the year.

At the moment a bird shot in my area doesn't cover the cost of a cartridge, yet my local restaurant is still serving up a pigeon breast starter at £10 a time!

PETER THEOBALD says:
Pigeon prices fluctuate throughout the year to suit demand from our European friends, where the vast majority of our birds end up.

My game dealer is currently paying 25p, more than enough to cover any cartridge costs, if that is the main reason why you shoot pigeons.

To process a bird for the table involves quite a labour intensive operation. Again, my gamedealer charges £1.50 per bird, and obviously, restaurants have excrutiatingly high overheads, hence the reason they will charge £12 quid for a bottle of wine you could buy for £3 in Tesco.
