How often do you handle your ferrets? The reason I ask is that a mate tells me to do it daily because that way they can be checked for lumps, bumps and stuff.
Is it really necessary to do it so often?
FERRETS
Edward Cook
Daily handling can only help a ferret become a better "tool" of the trade, but this is not always possible due to the hectic lifestyles we all seem to lead nowadays.
My ferrets get handled pretty much every day which helps me keep an eye out for those lumps and bumps you mention, or just get an idea of their general condition.
Sadly there are people who don't handle their ferrets at all and to a man usually argue that such treatment makes these little animals better workers because of it.
Nonsense! All it says is that their owner is downright lazy and possesses bad animal management skills.
